Benjamin's Updates - August 2026

Blessings to you all!

Benjamin here! If you are receiving this email, it’s probably because you signed up for my mailing list a longggg time ago. Big shout out to YOU, if you decided to open up this email! You are the best!

The music community recently lost a music legend, Glen Hansard. For those of you who know him, you’ll know the heartfelt songs and emotive melodies that have captured so many hearts over the years. My algorithms have been flooded with different collaborations, different performances, different commemorations - all of which show him doing the very thing he loved to do; play music. There’s even footage of him singing with a group of friends/musician’s the night before his tragic accident. I’ve been BLOWN AWAY with how much of an impact he has made on the world. Vulnerability. Emotion. Rawness. Compassion. Heartfelt. All words that can describe what you can witness with his music.

Admittedly, like many people, I found out about him from the movie, “Once”, which went on to win some fancy awards. As I began to start taking my “singer-songwriter” career more seriously, I realized how much I admired him as a musician and performer. He had such a unique way of engaging audiences - sometimes with an orchestra or band, and sometimes just with his guitar and powerful voice. No matter the set up, I never saw any apathy in his music. He could make audiences of thousands seem like an intimate coffee shop vibe. It was one my bucket list agendas to eventually see him perform live. Unfortunately, this wish can no longer be fulfilled. But the wish that can be fulfilled is to live each day with no regrets. Use the gifts that God has given you, no matter the doubts or anxiety involved in the process. Whether it’s writing, painting, creating TikTok videos, singing, running - do those things today. Easier said than done though, right?

With the brokenness of the world and the uncertainty of tomorrow, don’t let regret have the final say in your life. I say this as a person who is guilty of leaving things for tomorrow and am writing this for myself as well. (There’s a reason that I’ve lacked these emails, writing new music, performing, etc). Do me a favor - tell me what God is putting on your heart today to share with others. I’d love to hear what’s going on in your life! We are all in this world trying to navigate our way.
